Astros vs. Rays score: Live ALDS Game 4 updates, MLB playoffs highlights, full coverage

Tommy Pham gave the Rays an early lead in ALDS Game 4 against the Astros on Tuesday night in Tropicana Field. In the bottom of the first, Houston starter Justin Verlander, going on short rest, put a changeup on a tee for Pham, and the Tampa Bay outfielder didn't miss. It left the bat at 108 mph and traveled 408 feet for a 1-0 Rays lead. The Rays weren't done, as Verlander yielded a walk and a hit before Travis d'Arnaud plated the second run of the frame with a two-out RBI single to make it 2-0. Then it was Joey Wendle's turn to rip a double to right and make it 3-0. At the point, the Houston bullpen began stirring. Verlander finally got the elusive third out despite his diminished command, but it took him 32 pitches to do so.
The Astros lead the best-of-five series 2-1, so, like Game 3, this is an elimination game for the Rays. They're trying to force a decisive Game 5 back in Houston on Thursday. As for the Astros, they're trying to secure a berth opposite the Yankees in the ALCS.
